Oyo Assembly Passes N213 Billion 2020 Budget Into Law |OGBOMOSO INFO|

The Oyo state house of Assembly has on Friday passed to law the total of 213,278,033,200.97k (Two hundred and thirteen Billion, two hundred and seventy – eight million, thirty three thousand, two hundred naira, and ninety seven kobo) as the Oyo state Budget and Appropriation Bill for 2020 fiscal year. The budget passage was jacked up with the additional sum of 4.4 billion naira against the initial 208,802,972,878 that was presented to the honourable house by the Executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, 23rd of November, 2019. Tribunal Schedules Monday For Judgement In Adelabu And Makinde’s Case

People of Oyo State will, next Monday, 16th September, 2019, know who exactly won the March 9, 2019 guber election between Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oloye Bayo Adelabu. After many weeks of legal fireworks, the guber election petition tribunal recently accepted the final written addresses filed by Makinde, Adelabu, PDP and INEC. Adopting his final written address, the counsel to INEC, Akinolu Kehinde (SAN), urged the tribunal to cancel the petition for being grossly unmeritorious and lacking in substance. Kehinde had said that the petitioners erroneously put the burden of proof on INEC whereas the responsibility of proof lies on the petitioners. He had said that the petitioners complained of irregularities in 1,334 polling units and only called 38 polling unit agents out of which majority of them confirmed that the election conducted by INEC complied strictly with the Electoral Act. Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, said on Friday that the vision of his administration is to make Oyo state the fastest growing economy in Nigeria within a short while. Tribunal Should Have Declared Me Winner - Uduaghan

Emmanuel Uduaghan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Delta south senatorial election, says the election tribunal should have declared him winner of the February 23 poll. He said this in reaction to the tribunal’s removal of James Manager, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Manager winner of the election but Uduagahn challenged Manager’s victory. On Saturday, the tribunal annulled the election and ordered INEC to conduct a fresh one within 90 days. The Senate has begun probe into the case of Senator Elisha Abbo PDP, Adamawa North who allegedly slapped a nursing mother repeatedly at a sex toy shop in Abuja. Against this backdrop, the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan has set up a seven- Member Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the matter and report back in two weeks. RE-How I make a Payback for a lecturer who failed me for 6 years in the University. Do you remember the viral post some months which this platform also published  about a guy who claimed he was unduly failed severally by a LAUTECH lecturer  for a misdemeanor in Biology practicals?       He further claimed the same man and his family were at his mercy years later, begging for a part-time WAEC job. Well, this is the official University response to the incident. It's commendable of the university to have followed up on the matter. It's also a lesson for the rest of us to avoid the habit of making claims that can be substantiated, especially for the sake of fame.                      The LAUTECH authority invited him to come and shed light on the accusation but he did honour the invitations.                   Few days after declaring that the state is indebted to the tune of at least N150billion, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr.Seyi Makinde on Tuesday said the state government is technically bankrupt with his administration still looking at ways to salvage the situation and run the government. ECOWAS Adopts ECO As A Single Currency

Countries within the West African sub-region will be able to use a single currency from January 2020 The currency which is called ECO was adopted by the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government on Saturday in Nigeria’s capital Abuja. The West African leaders endorsed the currency at their 55th Ordinary Session and approved a road map towards the currency’s issuance in January 2020. There roadmap is to ensure that all member countries meet three primary criteria for the adoption of the currency. The criteria for adoption includes member countries having a budget deficit of not more than 3%; average annual inflation of less than 10% with a long-term goal of not more than 5% by 2019. Member countries were also expected to have gross reserves that can finance at least three months of imports. COURT REMANDS THREE FOR ALLEGEDLY BEATING POLICEMAN TO DEATH IN IBADAN

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Tuesday ordered that three men who allegedly beat a policeman to death, be remanded in prison, pending legal advice. The Magistrate, Mrs Mercy Amole-Ajimoti, ordered that Abubakar Mohammed, 25; Salisu Usman, 20; and Ajayi Ojo, 32, be remanded in Agodi prison. Amole-Ajimoti, who did not take the plea of the defendants, ordered the police to return the case file to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). She, subsequently, adjourned the case until July 15, for mention. The Prosecution, Insp. Sunday Ojeleye, told the court that the three defendants allegedly conspired to commit the offence on March 22, by 7 p.m. at Sabo area, Mokola, Ibadan. Ojeleye alleged that the defendants assaulted Insp. Tirimisiyu Akinola, with dangerous weapons at Sabo, while on lawful duty in a dark spot in the area. The deceased, he said, was a policeman attached to the  Area Command, Iyaganku, Ibadan, and led a team of policemen to Sabo.

The President of the Senate,  Ahmad Lawan,  on Tuesday, announced the list of principal officers sent to him by the leaderships of the All Progressives Party and the Peoples Democratic Party. Lawan, at the resumption of plenary, named Senator Abdullahi Yahaya as Senate Leader and  Ajayi Boroffice as his deputy.
